Queen Street Mall and the Valley Malls are popular locations for promotional events and activities.
Council regulates the city malls under the Public Land and Council Assets Local Law 2014.
You need consent for promotional activities in the malls that are of a commercial or non-commercial nature.
Consent for commercial activities
Commercial activities involve the exchange of goods or services for a fee or to promote a business activity or event.
Commercial activities include product launches and brand promotions.
You can request consent to use the malls for a commercial activity or promotion.
- For Queen Street Mall and Reddacliff Place, contact the Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
- For Brunswick Street Mall or Chinatown Mall, email City Malls Management.
Consent for non-commercial activities
Non-commercial activities can help raise awareness about various issues or pastimes. These include conducting a survey or collecting data.
You need consent to:
- distribute any written material or advertise using a placard, board, banner, or article of a similar nature
- deliver any public address, except at a location designated by Council
- gather or collect subscriptions or contributions
- sing, chant, dance, busk, recite, mime, entertain or play a musical instrument
- stack or store goods
- use an amplifying device with audible sound in a mall area or in a place next to a mall
You must seek Council consent at least 10 business days before the planned activity.
