Advertise your event on Council’s What’s On calendar. Find out if you’re eligible and submit a listing.

Brisbane is a vibrant city with lots of events for people of all ages, interests and lifestyles. 

Council’s event calendar makes it easy for everyone to find out what’s on. It brings together public event information in one place.

By listing an event you can:

  • get free advertising – there are no listing fees
  • have your event automatically listed on the Brisbane app 
  • promote your event to a wide and varied audience, including residents and city visitors
  • target your promotion to individuals with specific interests. People can use the calendar’s search function to find events in various categories.

Submit your listing to Council’s event calendar

You must apply to list your event on our event calendar. The sooner you submit a listing, the more promotional time you get. Don’t leave it too late, as it takes up to 5 days to process a listing request. 

Before you submit a listing, make sure it meets the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility criteria

All events must meet general eligibility criteria.

Your event needs to be:

  • held in a Council park or venue
  • open to the public.

Members-only events are not accepted.

Types of events

Check for other criteria or specific conditions that apply to your event type.

Must have all necessary Council event approvals and permits.

Must be be open to the public and either:

  • take place at a Council venue or park
  • be a Council sponsored event
  • be part of a Council program or event.

Must be hosted by the Brisbane Economic Development Agency as part of the Brisbane Business Hub services.

Must have received creative sector funding to deliver arts and cultural events through one of the following programs:

  • Council events
  • creative or historical grants
  • Cultural Facilities Management Funding 
  • Cultural Organisation Investment Funding 
  • Signature City Festivals
  • Council sponsorship
  • Suburban Community and Multicultural Festival Funding.

Must either:

  • take place at a Council venue or park
  • be a Council sponsored event
  • be part of a Council program or event.

Must be:

  • a Ward Office event, open to the general public, at a Council park or venue
  • an event at a Council park or venue (in your Ward), open to the general public, approved as part of the Lord Mayor's Suburban Initiative Fund.
How to list your event
1 Prepare your listing information

You need to have the following information ready to complete your application:  

  • name and type of event
  • event date
  • running time
  • venue
  • ticketing information
  • description
  • age range of attendees
  • event imagery.
3 After you submit

Your request will be processed within 5 business days. We may ask for more information to support your submission.  

If your event isn’t suitable for the calendar, we’ll let you know. 

Privacy policy

Purpose

Brisbane City Council is offering all event submissions to be published on Council's What's on in Brisbane calendar. The personal information you provide in your event submission will be protected in accordance with our obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2009.

Informed consent

Brisbane City Council is using the tools provided by Trumba, a private company with which Council has contracted. Trumba's servers are in the United States of America and the information you provide in your event submission will be securely stored on their servers and accessed by Council. By completing an event submission, you agree to your personal information being collected and transferred out of Australia to the Trumba server in the United States of America.

To submit a recurring event, tick the ‘repeat’ box on the online form. You can also confirm if your event reocurrs weekly, monthly or annually. 

Yes, all events on Council’s event calendar also appear in the Brisbane app’s events listing. 

However, anyone can also create an event in the app. Find out more about the Brisbane app.
